Mrs Scarth's End of Term Letter - Spring 2
Posted 4th April 2025
Dear Parent/Carer 4th April 2025
End of term message from Mrs Scarth
We have reached the end of another busy term and looking back on all that has been achieved, has really highlighted just how much of a community spirited school we are at Oatlands Juniors. From parents helping with readers in class; weekly swimming & badminton sessions; competitions; trips outside of school; PTA fundraising, to the children raising money for local charities, there is real generosity with time and efforts to support what we do. Our wider curriculum offer is one that we are immensely proud of, being recognised and praised by Ofsted as outstanding. It is one that enhances the learning experiences for all our pupils, and one that continually brings joy to learning. We always celebrate learning both in and outside the classroom through our daily posts on Instagram and Facebook which we hope you are regularly alerted to and follow. Next term, we have lots of exciting things planned and attached to my newsletter is the Summer Term calendar of events for your information.
Spring Term Sporting Success
We are all enormously proud of our OJS teams who have represented the school in a variety of sporting competitions throughout this term. We have not only been very successful, but also recognised for our sportsmanship at each event, which makes me very proud of our young talented sports stars. We are going to need a bigger trophy cabinet…!
Please read our termly Sports Newsletter, produced by Miss Bakes our PE leader.
Decorated Egg Competition
Once again, the entries were very creative this year and never disappoint! Our VIP judge, Jonathan Timmis COO of RKLT, had a very difficult job choosing a winner from each class, who received an Easter egg prize from the PTA. Thank you to all children who took part and well done to our class winners:
PTA
Thank you to our fabulous PTA who organised the popular movie nights this term, rasising much need funds towards a new MUGA.
Next term, our PTA will be supporting during SATS week with a breakfast club. They will be running our biggest fundraiser of the year, our annual joint summer fair with Oatlands Infants School on Saturday 14th June from 1-4pm. If you are able to offer a helping hand to this event, please get in touch with Emma Tanner, our Chair of PTA.
Parent / Carer Helpers
A huge thank you to all our parent helpers who have supported our pupils in school or accompanied classes on trips. It really does make a difference, and I really appreciate your time and generosity.
We have lots of exciting things planned for next term and I have attached the 2025 Summer Term calendar of events, for your reference. The Summer term curriculum overviews are also on the school website for each year group:
Oatlands Junior School - Red Kite Learning Trust - Summer
We always welcome parent/carer volunteers to help with any school trip or into school to read with children. If any of the topics for next half term are of a particular interest to you, then please contact your child’s class teacher. Last year, we welcomed a number of parents into school to share their professions or interests in STEM, during British Science week. If would be lovely for the children to experience this again. Please contact Miss Allenby, if you are interested visiting school during this week Monday 2nd - Friday 6th June. Our biannual French week is also happening in summer term and last time, we welcomed parents from various professions who spoke different languages. Please contact Miss Hind, if you are interested in visiting school during this week Monday 19th- Friday 23rd May. It is always great to have parents enrich our curriculum, sharing their skills and interests. Thank you!
We are pleased to announce the launch of our Instagram account. Follow to find out more about all the exciting things that children at Oatlands Junior School get up to. This account will be joined in the summer term by our Facebook account. We will continue to post news stories on our website, to give parents and carers a range of places to find out about children’s learning.

A polite reminder that our Instagram is for sharing celebrations and not a platform for parents/carers/followers to air complaints or negative comments about our school. Please do contact your child’s class teacher or me if there is something you are unhappy about, so that we can work together to resolve any issue. Thank you.
Thank you for your continued support.
I look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 22nd April at 8:55am.
Wishing you all a lovely Easter holiday!
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Estelle Scarth
