Parents/Carers

A late start is unsettling for your child. We are trying to instill life skills into all of our children to prepare them for future life at work and it is important that they arrive at school on time.

As a parent/carer, it is your responsibility to ensure that your child is collected at the end of the school day. Please ensure that the school has up-to-date telephone numbers to contact you in an emergency.
If a parent / carer does not arrive to collect their child at the end of the school day and the school has not been made aware of alternative arrangements, school will take the following steps:
Children who have not been collected by 3:40pm will be brought inside
If no contact has been made by the parent/carer, the office staff will attempt to contact the parent/carer and the emergency contact by telephone.
Where appropriate, a member of staff will ask the child if they have any additional contact information.

If contact cannot be made with the parent/carer or the emergency contact/s by 4:00pm, school will contact the NYC Customer Service Centre (Children’s Social Care).

Oatlands Junior School operates a School Street closure on Birchwood Grove from 8.30 - 9.00am and 3.00 - 3.45pm this is to safeguard our children on their journeys to and from school.
There are three designated Park and Stride for parents and carers to use. These are Marks and Spencer's car park, St Mark's Church car park and Hornbeam train station car park.
This will help to promote an enjoyable and healthy walk on the final stage of the journey to school.
The roads around the school Birchwood Mews and Beech Avenue areas are congested with cars, particularly at school drop-off and pick-up times. We are concerned for the health and safety of our children and also for the residents in the area.
Please consider if you need to travel to school by car. It would help to alleviate the problem if parents and children walk, scoot, bike or take the bus to school.
We ask that when collecting children, parents should meet their child on the school playground and escort them to their car. The car park is for staff only between 7:45am and 4pm. Please also be considerate to local residents and do not park across and block driveways. 20mph is plenty along Beechwood Grove and Beech Avenue.
