Bikeability in Year 5
Posted 10th March 2025
Students in Year 5 at Oatlands Junior School are pedaling into success after completing their Bikeability training, provided in partnership with North Yorkshire Council. The program, designed to equip children with the skills and confidence to ride their bikes safely on today’s roads, was met with enthusiasm and determination by the young participants.
Over the course of the training, the students learned essential road safety rules, practiced cycling techniques, and gained a solid understanding of how to navigate real-world traffic situations. The initiative not only promotes cycling as a sustainable mode of transport but also empowers children to make safe and responsible choices while on their bikes.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with many expressing how much they’ve learned and how their confidence has grown. The instructors from North Yorkshire Council also commended the students for their enthusiasm and progress, highlighting their eagerness to apply their new skills.
Oatlands Junior School is proud to support such valuable programs that encourage lifelong learning and healthier, more active lifestyles. Our Year 5 students have worked so hard during their Bikeability training, and we’re thrilled to see their efforts pay off. We’re very grateful to North Yorkshire Council for providing this opportunity.
As the training concludes, the students will be awarded Bikeability certificates, marking their accomplishment and commitment to safe cycling. It’s a triumph worth celebrating!
