Mrs Scarth's Start of Term Letter - Summer 1

Posted 17th April 2026

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back.

The children have enjoyed a settled and enthusiastic start to summer term this week. With the sunshine and warm weather starting to make an appearance, the children can spread out and play across the field – a highlight of the school day for many! As the temperature starts to rise, children do take off their coats and jumpers. To help return any forgotten items from playtimes, please can you ensure that all coats, jumpers and cardigans are labelled so that our Lost Property box doesn’t overflow.

Our outdoor space allows the children to engage with and create a range of different activities. It is a  joy seeing children building hedgehog hotels and spotting wildlife in the nature area; performing group dance routines, playing team games and reading for pleasure. A ‘One Piece’ card game club started this week, which unfortunately will have to be paused due to the inappropriate content and recommended age. Instead, we are looking for another card game club that can be run, after consulting with the children and being supported by a member of staff. More on this to come. In the meantime, please can you ensure that your child does not bring into school any ‘One Piece’ game cards. Thank you for your support with this.

Parking behind school

I have been contacted by local councillor John Mann who has received a formal complaint from residents about inconsiderate parking around Almsford Drive, at school drop off and pick up times, when the School Street is in operation and closed off to vehicles.  The displacement of cars is adversely affecting the bottom of Beech Avenue, Birchwood Mews and 1-7 Almsford Drive.  As you know, this is a very congested area, as there are also several businesses nearby that also need parking space for their customers and staff. A polite reminder to please help by parking in a considerate manner and to observe the yellow line parking restrictions. Also, to park so as not to obstruct residents’ drives or the general road vehicular access and egress to Birchwood Mews. Please remember that both Marks and Spencer and Hornbeam Park have a Park and Stride agreement with school during drop off and pick up times. Thank you for your understanding and support. Finally, find attached a flyer reminding children of road safety on their journey to and from school. We would appreciate you sharing this with your child.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Yours sincerely
