Mrs Scarth's Start of Term Letter (Summer 2)
Posted 6th June 2025
Dear Parent/Carer
Welcome Back!
I hope you all enjoyed a lovely half-term break. It’s great to be back in school, especially because of all the fabulous curriculum activities that have been happening this week. Y3 visited the Great Yorkshire Showground for Countryside Day; Y4 have been intrepid explorers, throughout their Everest Experience Day; Y5 have cooked delicious soup as part of their DT project; Y6 have tested out our new orienteering course around the school and everyone has enjoyed British Science week, taking part in exciting STEM activities.
Lots to look forward to this half-term; please see calendar of events on our school website as a reminder and for your reference.

If you can offer your help for any of the forthcoming trips or events, please contact your child’s class teacher. Thank you.
The weather is finally starting to become warm, bright and sunny – the children are delighted to be playing on the school field at break times, which is lovely to see. On hot, sunny days, please do remember to ensure your child arrives at school with sunscreen already applied, a water bottle and sunhat, so that they can enjoy their playtimes outside safely and comfortably, when the sun shines and the temperature rises.

Y2/3 and Y6/7 Transition
Our Y2/3 transition programme of events is well underway, and we look forward to welcoming our new Y3 intake of children on their visits to OJS over the coming weeks.
Y6 pupils will be visiting their new secondary schools this half-term and they have already started to have visits from their new Heads of Y7. Our Y6 team are liaising with their Y7 colleagues to ensure that the transition to secondary is happy and successful for all our children. This can be an unsettling time for some Y6 pupils, so if you have any concerns, please do contact your child’s class teacher.
