Sports Premium
At Oatlands Junior School we believe PE & Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.
At Oatlands Junior School we recognise the important role that physical activity plays in fostering the health, fitness and well-being among pupils, staff, parents/carers and the wider community. We aim to provide the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary for a healthy lifestyle and a lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
We have welcomed the Government’s announcement to continue providing the PE and Sport Premium.
The premium must be used to ‘build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years’ and to ‘develop or add to the PE, sport and physical activity that your school provides’ (DfE Nov 2022)
How is the School PE and Sport Premium allocated to schools?
Funding for schools in 2022-203 has been calculated by the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual census that takes place every January. All schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive £16,000 plus an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
How we use our PE and Sport Premium
We spend our current School PE and Sports Grant to enable as many children as possible to access high quality PE lessons, participate in a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities and to have the opportunity to engage in competitive matches and events with other local schools. Continued collaboration with the Well School Partnership, North Yorkshire Sport, specialist coaches and local clubs will enable us to develop the quality and range of our existing PE and Sports curriculum further. Promoting healthy lifestyle choices, which include being physically active, will allow us to have a sustained impact on our pupil’s lives. The impact of the use of the grant is reviewed at the end of each year.
