Panathalon Success!
Posted 4th March 2025
On 04/03/2025, our school participated in the Panathlon, an exciting and competitive sporting event that brought together seven schools for a day of friendly competition and teamwork. The event featured a variety of activities, including new age curling, a target throw, boccia, bowling, basketball shooting, and a parachute game. Our team, consisting of Jack, Joshua, Ralphi, Jacob, Teddy, Adeline, Alex, and Jessica, displayed exceptional behaviour, resilience, and determination throughout the day, contributing to our overall success.
The children’s behaviour and manners were exemplary. They showed respect for both the event organizers and the other participants, and their conduct throughout the day reflected the core values of sportsmanship. Despite the challenges in each activity, the team’s resilience was outstanding, with every member giving their best effort no matter the circumstances.
Teddy, our team captain, truly shone as a leader. His maturity and leadership skills were evident from the very beginning. He guided the team with confidence, offering words of encouragement when needed and making sure that everyone felt supported. His leadership was key in keeping the team motivated and focused throughout the competition, for example making sure everyone in our team had put their hands up to show they were ready before each activity.
Jacob was another standout, showing incredible support for his teammates. When others were struggling, he was quick to step in, offering help and reassurance. His positive attitude and willingness to support others helped create a collaborative environment where every member of the team felt valued. He also was very helpful, tidying up equipment regularly for the Leaders running stations.
Jessica and Adeline were both nervous when we arrived, but despite this they threw themselves into every activity and did exceptionally well, especially on the events that required accuracy – they both knocked down a lot of skittles during bowling! They should be really proud of themselves and how they performed.
Our Year 3 children, Joshua, Jack and Ralphi really impressed Miss Bakes as their behaviour, sportsmanship, manners and teamwork was just as good as their older team mates. They worked really nicely with everyone and cheered the loudest for other people’s successes!
The entire team was encouraging and cheered each other on in every activity, no matter the outcome. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it kept the energy high all day long. They celebrated each other’s successes, big or small, and worked together to overcome any challenges they faced.
Our participation in the various activities was impressive, and the team excelled across all events. The new age curling, target throw, boccia, bowling, basketball shooting, and parachute game all required skill, strategy, and teamwork, and our students rose to the occasion. Their hard work and determination paid off, and we ended the day with the highest overall score, claiming victory over the other six schools.
As a result of their exceptional performance, all of our children received gold medals and certificates, which they accepted respectfully. Despite their victory, they remained focused on the positive experience of the event and the joy of participating with their friends. In addition to the individual medals, we also took home the trophy for the school with the most points overall.
It was a fantastic day for our school, and our students demonstrated the true meaning of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of how each child represented our school and how they worked together to achieve success.
