On Thursday 22nd February, our Wellbeing Champions had the opportunity to visit Saint Michael’s Hospice – this is the charity they have chosen to support this year. We were met by Jess, the Community and Events Fundraiser, and Beth, who showed us around both the grounds and inside Saint Michael’s Hospice. We also met Clare, one of the doctors, who told us about the sort of work she does. We met the chef, Dave, and we also spent time with Anna’s mum, Gerry, who explained about why so much money is needed to run Saint Michael’s and about the new hospice they are building in Thirsk.
One of the main facts we came away with is that it takes over £9 million to cover costs at Saint Michael’s every year. So, every penny we raise in our Saint Michael’s Jumpathon counts! We were treated to juice, homemade shortbread and ice lollies, which we all enjoyed.
The Wellbeing Champions are looking forward to the Saint Michael’s Jumpathon event now and hope that all the boys and girls in school are collecting sponsors from home. The event will be done in school – it starts on Monday 26th February and runs until Friday 1stMarch. Please send your sponsorship money/donations in byFriday 8thMarch.
