Year 6 students recently participated in an inspiring poetry workshop with renowned poet Maria Ferguson on Monday. This creative event provided an excellent opportunity for our students to explore the world of poetry and hone their writing skills.
During the workshop, Maria Ferguson guided the students through various poetic techniques and encouraged them to express their thoughts and emotions through their writing. The highlight of the day was the team performances, where students presented their original poems to their peers and teachers.
We are delighted to share that the winning team’s performance has qualified for the Authors Abroad Poetry Slam at the Carriageworks in Leeds. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud of our talented young poets.
Deputy Head Teacher, Drew Morley said, "The enthusiasm and creativity shown by our Year 6 students were truly inspiring. We are grateful to Maria Ferguson for her guidance and look forward to seeing our students shine at the Poetry Slam in Leeds."
Congratulations to the winning team and all the participants for their hard work and dedication. We can't wait to see them perform at the Authors Abroad Poetry Slam!
